Our October grading was again overseen by Master Richard Vince from UK Black Belt Academies governing body and was probably one of the most attended gradings since the Academy opened at Warwick Road.
The first grading to be conducted, prior to the main Saturday grading day, was by our Chief Instructor Mrs Kendall who successfully achieved advancement to 4th Dan in Kickboxing and 3rd Dan in Taekwondo.
Saturday grading day started early with Taekwondo Blackbelt gradings. Martin and Hayley Barnes, who joined Kendojo when the Academy opened at Warwick Road in 2007, took their 1st Dan grading. Mr and Mrs Barnes where joined in the grading by Instructors Sean Byrne and Paul Marshall, who were taking their 2nd Dan grading. After an intense and thorough test, conducted by Master Vince, all 4 were rewarded with success.
The day continued with coloured belt gradings for Taekwondo and then kickboxing. Students from Mrs Kendalls classes at Alford joined the students from Warwick Road for the grading. Because of the high numbers in the kickboxing their grading times where split into two sessions, low belts then high belts. In total over 80 taekwondo and kickboxing students took coloured belt gradings.
The day concluded with Kickboxing blackbelt grading. Jordan Wild, Jacquie Jacklin and Lamara Jacklin were being assessed for their 1st Dan Blackbelts. Again, the students were put through a stern test by Master Vince but they all came through it successfully and the day was ended on a high.
